Here comes the weekend and my Friday classic oldie jam pick

Elusive Butterfly
Bob Lind (1966)

Boy, this week went by pretty quickly, at least for me. Maybe it's because I was so busy catching up on all the emails and work that had piled up on my desk while I was on my staycation last week.  But, I'm always beyond happy to see the weekend.

What fun things do you have planned for this weekend?

I've been trying to get my 2 little ones (Lily & Lola) an appointment with our regular groomer.  It's been several months and every time I call for an appointment, they are booked solid.  I've been put on the cancellation list numerous times but they never call.

I was so desperate, that while I was off, I even attempted to give them a bath and get them all pretty-fied myself.  They looked good for a few days but now I'm beginning to see mats appear in Lily's hair again.  This calls for professional help! After much searching, today I was finally able to snag an appointment with a groomer in another city and they will go in on Sunday morning. (doing the happy dance )

Remember how I always say -- if you find something, that looks good on you, and you like it and feel comfortable in it, buy it in every color?  Well, I didn't follow my own advice.

Last Friday when I was shopping, I bought 2 pairs of the cutest flats.  I bought them at Nordstrom and they were very reasonably priced ($49 a pair).  I am no designer label shoe snob! I could care less about a pair of really expensive shoes.  I do buy expensive shoes from time to time and I even have some handmade shoes from Paris, but for the most part, I shop price for my flats and more colorful shoes.  (I might add here that I think one of the pitfalls of aging is that women start ignoring current shoe styles. I'll go in to this more in another post) Anyway, I bought the shoes in black and blush.  They were also available in royal blue and red (and a couple of other colors).

As the week went by, I began to kick myself and wondered why I didn't buy the blue and red pair as well  So today at lunch, I went all the way back to Nordstrom to buy them...and guess what? They didn't have my size. They checked every store in the area and not one of them had my size.

I was finally able to order them online but will now have to wait until next week to get them.

available at Nordstrom (also available in leather)

and...speaking of 'ELUSIVE'

that brings me to today's classic oldie

How many of you remember this 1966 hit, Elusive Butterfly by Bob Lind?
(be sure to click on the link above and listen to the song)

"Elusive Butterfly" 1966
A popular song written by Bob Lind released in 1966 which reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The prominent string arrangement on Lind's "Elusive Butterfly" was by legendary Jack Nitzsche, known for his work with The Rolling Stones. With this song, Bob Lind gave World Pacific Records its one and only big hit. Bob Lind's debut album, "Don't Be Concerned," borrowed its title from a line in the song – "Don't be concerned, it will not harm you."

Lind’s solo career lost impetus after "Elusive Butterfly" and problems with drugs and alcohol made matters worse. Lind continues performing and touring, however, and over 200 artists have covered his songs.
