I cast my vote for Friendsgiving!

Friendsgiving is a growing trend, but one I had not heard of until recently.

The genius of Friendsgiving is in its name—before now, Thanksgiving has always been about the gathering of family members, dissimilar people from different generations with different philosophies and attitudes who only share a last name and receding hairline.

The idea behind Friendsgiving is to have a relaxed and enjoyable meal with friends  it's a celebration with people you consider another type of family to you.

While Thanksgiving can often be a stressful day,  Friendsgiving should be fun and stress free.

I picked up these 2 guys in Guatemala - aren't they cute
Not sure what we will be doing for the holiday but I vote for "Friendsgiving"!

Goodbye Doyle Street Cafe!

Saturday we said goodbye to our friends at the Doyle Street Cafe where we have been eating breakfast on the weekends for the past several years.

After so long of a time, you really feel like you are leaving a part of your family.

But, we will see them again upon our return!

Retire and don't look back

I am finally 2 weeks from retirement! I can hardly believe it. I remember when it was 4 years away. I thought the day would never come. I have now begun the final countdown and it feels so good!!

My colleagues at work gave me a retirement party and dinner last night. It was really nice. They are really a fun group and I am going to miss them.

The celebration started with a cake and a gift at lunch and then dinner at a cool little restaurant in San Francisco.

The beginning of goodbye

Getting closer to moving to Costa Rica does have its drawbacks.

Leaving friends is one of them!

On Sunday we attended the annual football playoff party hosted by our good friends Keith & Kevin. We've been attending this annual event for several years now. In addition to this party, these 2 party animals host several other parties throughout the year.

We look forward to attending and hanging out and socializing with our friends, while drinking some VERY good wine and eating some VERY good food.

Yesterday was our final party. (well there may be one more, which will be our goodbye party) but this was definitely our last football party.

We are never asked to bring anything but after sharing a recipe for Buffalo Cauliflower bites on Facebook, I was "encouraged" to bring them to the party.

Which I did

It's a really quick and easy recipe. All you need are 6 cups of cauliflower florets, mix with a little butter, garlic, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper sauce. Shake it up in a bag and bake in the oven @450 for 20 minutes.

I had all of the above sauce choices but in the end it made the most sense to use the Tabasco Buffalo (photo on the far right)

Looks just like chicken

Put them on a platter with some carrots, celery, blue cheese and ranch dip and took them to the party to share.

Here they are on a table which is way too full of goodies.
Although many of the bites were eaten, people kept commenting on how HOT they were.
"They are "Buffalo" flavored like Buffalo wings people. Geez!"
What did they expect (SMH)

A good time was had by all and I will miss these parties so much!!!

Here's the recipe

If you decide to make them, be aware of your guests
These Buffalo bites are not for sissies!!! Hahaha
