My 15 X 4 Facial Oil & Anti Aging Serum
My 15 by 4 facial oil/Anti Aging
For about a year I have been using straight coconut oil as a single oil on my face. I have been using it as night cream and a daily moisturizer. Before this I was using a commercial moisturizer. I really wanted to use something that was free of chemicals and coconut oil is very helpful in a multitude of ways. I didn't have issues with it per se, but I did feel that it might be just a bit too oily for everyday use on the face if you are using it as your single source.
So, I have been on the look out for a lighter replacement and the perfect oil for my face.
Last month I made a face serum with a recipe that used Rose Hip Oil. In addition to being a pretty expensive oil, I did not care much for the scent. I do realize that the oils are therapeutic, however there are generally alternative oils than can be substituted if you do not have a suggested oil or, as in my case, you do not like the scent.
So I have continued my search
This newest herbal face oil is amazing for skin. It does use 5 different essential oils (and not the least expensive oils) but it smells incredible and should work just as well.
If you follow the recipe you will only need a couple of smalls drop each day and it should last about 6-8 months and it is the only face moisturizer you'll need.
Herbal Face Oil Ingredients
The special blend of oils in this recipe is especially good for skin, including:
- Argan Oil ( I did not have Argan so I substituted jojoba)
- Rose (I used Rose Absolute)
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Frankincense Essential Oil
- Myrrh Essential oil
Another great thing about this recipe is that it takes seconds to make because you are just mixing oils with other oils and no water or emulsification is needed.
Keep it handy by your sink and use a drop after oil cleansing each night or after washing your face in the morning. It smells incredible and I love smelling the oils as I drift off to sleep or as I work in the morning.

Face Oil Ingredients:
- 2 ounces argan oil
- 15 drops each of Rose, Lavender, Frankincense Myrrh essential oils
How to Make Herbal Face Oil:
- Mix all ingredients in a small glass dropper bottle or pump bottle that can release only a drop or two at a time.
- Use 2-3 drops per day as needed on face.
Note: If you have drier skin, another oil like jojoba, olive or sea buckthorn can be used.

Poised for a shift
So let me catch you up on what I've been doing (or thinking) lately.
I've made a decision which came into focus after a harmless visit to the doctor.
I've never been fond of going to the doctor, or shall I say, I am not fond of western medicine. I just have a general distrust which has gotten worse over the years. So unless I have some acute pain that I cannot bear, I will put off going to the doctor.
A couple of months ago I suffered a sudden attack of the "skin tags" and "white spots" (reverse freckles). I swear a bunch of them appeared overnight and every day or so more would appear. Since I was fearful that my body and especially my face would be over taken with these dreadful spots I decided to make an appointment to see the doctor (a new doctor for me as I don't have a regular primary care physician).
When I met with the doctor he told me that the tags were a common occurrence and really nothing to worry about, however I was also having some body aches and muscle weakness. So he suggested we run some "tests". He said we should check my thyroid, liver and find out how my overall immune system was functioning. I would have declined because what I dislike even more than getting the tests done, is waiting for the results. But, I also mentioned a blood disorder that I had been told I might have by a previous doctor and he said he could test for that. I was also curious to know exactly what was ailing me. So, I agreed to go.
To make a long story short, it took me about a month to get my results. The doctor never tested the 2 things I was most interested in (my vitamin D levels and the genetic blood disorder). During our consultation about my results, I decided to ask him several questions related to nutrition, new findings in cancer research and vaccines, which I thought he should be able to answer. He had no clue.
Instead, after finding nothing significant in the 1st round of testing, he sent me off to take some additional tests. The other day the bill arrived from Blue Cross for the 1st round. The total for the tests was $1,236 of which my insurance picked up $136. (Btw - I have not done the 2nd round of tests). Next it will be off to the specialist $$$. I am stepping off the "medical matrix" while I still can!
I already had the intention of taking control of my body and my health in a more holistic manner. My decision to move to Costa Rica was the 1st step. I have been doing much research and after watching the 9 part docu-series "The Truth about Cancer" I am even more convinced that most of our food is (crap) full of unhealthy ingredients, processed and GMO and the corporate medical field (aka, pharmaceuticals) has been steering our country away from traditional herbal remedies for decades because there’s no money in it, for them.
I believe that most disease is linked to nutrition, environment and how we deal with stress. Western medical doctors have no real training in nutrition and basically treat the symptoms and don't bother to treat the cause. They also never recommend alternative treatments. It's a sad thing. (but it's not their fault - it's just not what they're taught in school).
It was then that I made the decision to fully ditch the pharmaceutical route and go organic!

I will pursue alternative methods for wellness and healing the body/mind/spirit. There are many practices and modalities to explore, including the use of essential oils which can support the body in a non invasive way. I will share my progress in future posts.
On Sunday I held a viewing event featuring
Ep 1 of "The Truth about Cancer "
combined with a juicing party
Below are some of the pics from the event
Turmeric can be very helpful to include in our diets
pay attention to the water you drink
***unfortunately coconut milk contains carrageenan - a carcinogenic ingredient and a substance derived from red algae. Carrageenan can be found in most milk substitute products, infant formula, deli meats, cottage cheese and some flavored coconut waters regardless if the product is certified organic by the USDA.
Verdette samples our 1st batch of juice
Carrot, apple ginger is a favorite of mine
a good (easy) substitute for messy beets for juice
Organic Turmeric
Organic ginger
below- I use these daily
Always look for the USDA seal certifying that the product is Organic
but even as important

Find what you LOVE!
If you ever struggle getting out of bed in the morning,
you need to watch this inspirational video featuring dancer Misty Copeland, TV
personality Steve Harvey, and Steve Jobs. They talk about how following your
dreams, your passions can and will motivate you.
It is NEVER too late to find your Passion!!
The "yeah" pushes us toward our passion; the
"but" stops us dead in our tracks. Yeah-but prefaces infinite
justifications for avoiding the things our hearts find compelling.
Try this: The next time you hear
yourself say "Yeah, but...," ask yourself if you're describing a
genuine obstacle that cannot be circumnavigated.
If not, do exactly what your Yeah-but says you shouldn't. Write that novel - Adopt that puppy
Resist Resist, Resist!
Keep the "yeah" and kick the "but."

Authentically me!
Happy 4th of July!!
I'm Baaack!!!
It's Independence Day and I'm very happy to be back blogging again with a bunch of new topics to discuss.
When I first decided to go with a new design, I was going to hire a professional blog designer to redo the blog for me. I even sent in my money, but while I was waiting for my designer to contact me, I got to thinking about some of the frustrating experiences I had with a previous blog designer. I decided it would be better for me to redo the blog myself. After all, I've created and designed 4 other blogs. For me, the process of explaining my design perspective to a designer via email is difficult. Plus, although the words on my blog design request form said I wanted "a simple, neutral design" (an unrealistic dream) folks, I do not have a simple, neutral personality!! My heart knew that it was inevitable that the artsy, colorful, creative side of me would eventually prevail. So, why waste the money?
I decided to do the redesign myself.

During my thought process, I struggled with which direction to take the blog. And, it was REALLY hard to add the line "sixty and beyond". A part of me wanted to leave it out altogether for fear of losing readers who would equate being 60 with being old. Really old! (not true of course!!) I pondered using some "clever" substitute in the title, but in the end I decided to go with the truth.
Hot New Topics
I still love it!! You will continue to see fashions. The important thing is I am going to be downsizing. So the fashions will change along with the size of my closet. My goal in the end will be fewer outfits with pieces that I Love and want to wear. That is not the case today.
My 2nd love after fashion is design. Jewelry, art, interiors, whatever! I am a glass artist and at one point I considered a career in interior design. Eventually we will be making a move and a new home in a new country so I thought design would be quite appropriate and a nice addition to the blog.If you know me, you know I live to travel! Lots yet to see and places to go. Nuff saidI think we all want to live a more centered life. There are NO rules. See all in love and everything as connected. Being innately guided by your heart rather than mislead by your ego. It's not always so easy but there are things that we can do.
Let's start a conversation.
I'm not much of a cook so don't expect to find a lot of fancy recipes, instead look for recipes, tips and suggestions on how to eat more healthy. We have even started a garden. My desire is to transition to more healthy eating.
Boomer Corner - "We Matter"76.4 million baby boomers represent close to one-quarter of the estimated population of 314 million.
BTW - in case you have not committed to memory what age is what generation (I always forget too) - Millennials (whom we define as between ages 18 to 34 in 2015) are projected to number 75.3 million, surpassing the projected 74.9 million Boomers (ages 51 to 69). The Gen X population (ages 35 to 50 in 2015) is projected to outnumber the Boomers by 2028.

At some point I plan to add vlogs (live video). Currently no date but it will definitely happen when I relocate to Costa Rica.
