Well, here we are at the official start of summer 2014.  I just love summer! Do you have something fun planned for the holiday weekend?  We are going to bar-b-que with friends on Sunday. The temps should be in the 90s. That will kick off my week long 'staycation'.  I'm so looking forward to it.

How many of you remember this 1976 hit by British rock band, Manfred Mann?

"Blinded by the Light" is a song written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen, although it is mostly known by its 1976 #1 hit version recorded by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. It was released in the United Kingdom in August 1976, where it reached No. 6 in the BMRB charts.

How many of you know the origin of the hand gesture peace sign (the deuces)?

The gesture of two fingers spread and raised in peace, popularized in the 1960s, is a physical interpretation of the peace symbol. Thought is that it began in Europe during world war II with a V for victory.

Since the 1960s, when the "V sign" was widely adopted by the counterculture movement, it has come to be used as a symbol of peace.

The forecast calls for some heavyweight shopping, so snag some seriously necessary wardrobe additions (ahem, eye-catching necklaces, anyone?). And, hey, if you're itching to part with the city, head to the Napa Valley for the BottleRock Music Festival  (60 bands on 4 stages) to keep those relaxed vibes going through Sunday, June 1.

Oh and if you're in Paris....

There are just three days left, before the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West intimate 200 guest, wedding extravaganza.  The Kardashians have officially invaded Paris. Kimye arrived in the City of Light earlier this week, followed by friends and family a few days later.  Her gown is still undisclosed, but Kim hit the town on Wednesday in a plunging gown with an up-to-there slit for a dinner at Hôtel Costes -- This choice has many people wondering (and waiting) to see her dress on the big day.

We old-er folks forgive you Maggie if you don't know who Manfred Mann is or where deuces originated because you're still a young one.  I didn't know most of the groups on the 2014 Billboard Music Awards show this past week.  
So we're even!
