My Maya Angelou memory

My brother posted this photo of he and I with Maya Angelou to my Facebook page yesterday. The photo was taken almost 20 years ago at an event he sponsored.  At that time he was Board President of an organization called Back on Track which provided educational programs and mentoring for disadvantaged youths.   Back on Track worked in partnership with Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco.  Maya Angelou very graciously agreed to speak at one of his events.  It was electric! She just had that "something" that comes though her being and touches everyone she comes in contact with.  After the event I had a chance to speak with her. She grabbed both of our hands and this photo was taken.  I still remember it (and what I wore) haha.
