Holy Basil and...a new pair of boots!

My wellness tip for today is holy basil also known as “Tulsi” or “The Incomparable One”. Holy basil is one of the most sacred plants in India. Tulsi is revered throughout India as a sacred herb infused with healing power and is considered to be the “Queen of Herbs.”

Before  embarking on any new wellness endeavor we always do quite a bit of product research. After gathering enough information to convince us that it would be worth while to try them, my boyfriend and I began drinking the Ayurvedic organic herbal/medicinal teas by Organic India about a month ago.

Tulsi Tea blends come in 18 flavors! We purchased ours at our local Raley's. I also noticed that Whole Foods carries a variery of the teas as well but the store where we shop did not carry any of the medicinal varieties.

Holy basil (Ocimum sanctum) is a member of the mint, or Labiatae, family.  You can also grow the plant at home. Though it is closely related to the sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum) frequently used in cooking holy basil has a much richer history.

It has only recently gained popularity in the United States although it has been grown in India for more than 3,000 years.

The herb has been valued for centuries because of its benefits for the mind, body, and spirit.
Holy basil is a powerful antioxidant with demonstrated antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.  In Ayurvedic medicine, holy basil has been used to treat a variety of conditions - everything from the common cold to bronchitis to fever to certain digestive complaints, including ulcers.

The most compelling data suggests that holy basil possesses its greatest potential in the areas of stress relief and relaxation, however, abundant in antioxidants, certified organic Tulsi Tea also offers increased energy and a boost to the natural immune system.  See more

I am starting with the Kidney & Liver blend (you can also do a cleanse with this tea by drinking it twice a day) and the Tulsi Tummy. The boyfriend is using the Tulsi Sleep which he said is working great. The box contains 18 tea bags for around $5.00.

True Wellness for One Planet

Tulsi Tea was developed in collaboration with Dr N Singh a medical doctor who used both herbal and allopathic medical treatments, and a pioneer in the modern scientific investigation of the traditional Ayurvedic and medicinal herbs of India.

ORGANIC INDIA was formed in the 1990's by a small group of people from around the world who met in Lucknow, a town in northern India. They had traveled to meet H.W.L. Poonja, the spiritual teacher fondly known as "Papaji." Drawn by the search for truth and self-realization, they came to hear Papaji’s simple teachings:

"Keep Quiet. The eternal truth exists within you. Do not entertain a single thought and the truth will reveal itself to itself."

Oh and since you stopped by I might as well tell you what I'm wearing today.
Since I am seated you aren't able to see much of my outfit,
which includes my newest pair of low ride ankle boots (sort of a combo black & cowhide color) by Aerosole, so you know they are super comfy!

Along with my newest favorite go-to pants from The Gap "Moto Jogger pants"
They come in a multitude of colors and I think I bought every color.  LOVE them!!!

  2. Hey Shelly
The Tulsi Tummy is OK but these are from the medicinal line so they aren't quite as tasty as the regular teas. The Liver & Kidney teas is very bitter. Just a warning :)
