In my mind I had pictured a very calm final week at work, ending with me going into the office on Friday to turn in my ids, laptop and say my good byes to co workers. However, it was not to be. Everything that could happen, did happen, and I finally left the office close to 4pm exhausted and stressed. A client emergency arose on Tuesday and was still not resolved when I walked out of the office on Friday. A perfect example of why it was TIME for me to retire!
I had to keep telling myself "I am retired" but I wondered just how I would feel the day after my retirement.
As it turned out, a couple of good friends had the perfect remedy. They picked us up on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning and drove us to Half Moon Bay to spend some time brunching, shopping, walking the beach and hanging at the beautiful Oceano Hotel & Spa.
The City of Half Moon Bay rests on the Pacific Coast between forested hills and some of the most beautiful coastlines that California has to offer. It is located approximately 28 miles south of San Francisco and lies within the western most portion of San Mateo County.
I used to go to Half Moon Bay quite often back in the day. We enjoyed attending events at the world famous Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society. It was quite the happening place to be. Live Jazz on Sunday's at the Douglas Beach House. Still alive and going strong. It has been in existence since 1964.
Oceano Hotel and Spa, is a premier 4-star luxury hotel. It is surrounded by coastal adventures and breathtaking views of the beautiful Northern California Coast. Set in the heart of a bustling fishing harbor.
Relaxing in the lobby of the hotel.
The rooms are beautiful too with rates starting somewhere around $360/night
I'm looking forward to this "retired" life!
Looks like good Fun and lots more to come. . .Make sure you enjoy each and everyday.
ReplyDeleteHi Mz Neti - Thank you for your comment. We are trying hard to stay in the moment but moving out of the country can be very stressful at the final days before departure. Even though we have been planning for years! LOL I meant it when I said I am going to email you. I'm going to do it AFTER we get to Costa Rica so I can concentrate. Thanks again for reading.
DeleteDevon just returning the visit and saying great post. Love the pics and all the best to retirement. Weird world isn't it? It is my dream to retire in the Bay area one day and you are moving away from it. :) Best, Sabina
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it here and never planned to leave but the cost of living is high and getting higher. The Bay Area is turning into a haven for only the rich - so I had to make a choice - continue to work until I'm 100 or retire LOL You know which one I chose. This will always be my home and we will return often.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!!
What a gorgeous place and fun day! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy - you are welcome. We all have to stick together and support each other.
DeleteHalf Moon Bay?!? (I will not be jealous, I will not be jealous, I will not....) That hotel looks like a palace! So glad you have good friends to whisk you away after the stress of your retirement day. I've been twice, once with the family and once w/the hubs when we were expecting our first.
ReplyDeleteHi LuAnn
DeleteYes, It's Half Moon Bay LOL We rarely get over there anymore. So many beautiful places around here that we just take for granted since we live here. Fortunately, we'll be coming home periodically and we can still enjoy them (probably more then than now)
Re the hotel - absolutely GORGEOUS! Love a nice hotel. I am a fan of the boutique hotel and try to stay in them every chance I get.
Life will be VERY different in Costa Rica but looking forward to it.
Thank you for stopping by!
Back to packing for me :( UGH
